How to perform

Sit on the floor with your upper back against a bench, bar across your hips with a pad. Plant your feet flat, roughly shoulder width, with shins vertical at the top of the movement. Drive through your heels and lift your hips until your torso is parallel to the floor. Squeeze your glutes hard at the top and tuck your chin slightly. Lower under control without resting the bar on the floor between reps. Common mistakes: hyperextending the lower back at the top instead of finishing with the glutes, and placing the feet too far forward or back.
